Supported Independent Living

Supported Independent Living (SIL) provides comprehensive, around-the-clock support to help you live independently in your chosen home. We create a supportive environment that respects your autonomy while ensuring your safety and wellbeing.

What Is Supported Independent Living?

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is an NDIS-funded support that provides assistance with daily tasks in a shared or individual living arrangement. SIL is designed for participants who need regular support to live independently but want to maintain as much autonomy as possible. This may include help with personal care, household management, meal preparation, and community access. SIL is different from Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), which relates to the physical dwelling. SIL is about the support you receive, regardless of where you live.

Our SIL Model

At Ubuntu Support Services, our SIL model is built on the Ubuntu principle that every person deserves to live in a community that supports and values them. We work with you to design a support roster that meets your needs while maximising your independence. Our SIL homes are welcoming, well-maintained environments where you can feel at home. We support you to develop daily living skills, manage your household, engage with your community, and work towards your personal goals. Our staff are carefully selected, thoroughly trained, and genuinely committed to your wellbeing.

Getting SIL in Your NDIS Plan

SIL funding is included in your NDIS plan under Core Supports — Assistance with Daily Life. To access SIL, you typically need to demonstrate a need for regular, ongoing support in a home environment. Our team can assist you with the SIL assessment process, help you understand the funding model, and support you through the transition to independent living. We work closely with support coordinators, families, and the NDIA to ensure a smooth and positive experience.
